Sea-Hammock's plastic frame is comprised of pvc tubes and plastic connectors. The frame is supplied with the right angle bends bonded to the horizontal bars, but the rest of the frame can be assembled or broken apart by a few blows with the palm of your hand, or a soft mallet. This makes it easy to transport. If you wish you can permanently lock the frame together by means of a pvc solvent adhesive. (Mallet and adhesive not supplied).

The vinyl mesh cover has a polyurethane buoyancy bag contained in a floating pillow. The amount of buoyancy can be adjusted by means of a lifejacket inflator valve. A flap extends from the bottom of the pillow to the top rail of the main frame to which it is attached by means of a zip. A sling extends from the bottom of the front of the buoyancy pillow to the arm of the mainframe. The bottom of the sling comprises 4 zipped pockets, and the length of the sling can adjusted by zipping onto the mainframe arm the zipped pocket that best suits your body height.

In use, the bottom of the mainframe will rest on the sea or pool bottom, whilst the top of the frame will be supported by the buoyancy pillow. The frame is self-adjusting for water depths between about 0.8m and 1.5m (the angle the mainframe makes with the sea or pool bottom just becomes more or less acute). The corners of the frame have holes in them so that the frame will fill with water and tend to sink.

The mainframe measures approximately 1m x 0.55m and the mainframe arm approx 0.55m x 0.56m. The frame weighs approximately 4 kg and the cover 1 kg. In is intended for confident swimmers 14 years of age or over. It is not intended as a life-preserver and should not be used in water you would not be confident swimming in. It will be affected by wind and tide and great care should be taken if used in the sea.
