PRICES
Having a Badu-Jet counter-current swimming machine means that you can still swim in a much smaller pool. Smaller pools are cheaper and easier to buy, heat, enclose, clean and maintain and make less of an impact on the garden. Badu-jets can be fitted over the wall of above ground pools with a sufficiently stable top rail (see below). Much of the weight can be taken on an optional extra post on the other side of the wall, but the pool's top deck needs to take some weight and prevent movement. Pictured below is the "Action" with light. On this model the distance between deck and water level is 150mm.

A big mains pump is in the top box. Obviously the pump needs to
be secured firmly to the deck and safety assured by a qualified electrician
wiring the pump back to a consumer unit with a fully protected circuit and
an easily accessible weatherproof isolation switch. The unit is switched on
from the pool by means of an air pressure switch. When the unit is switched
on the water pressure from the jets causes the part in the water to move
backwards slightly. this is o.k.on my Doughboy, but you might have to ensure
that any backward movement does not crease an above-ground pool wall.
The underwater light has a 12v supply from a supplied transformer.
The strength of the jet is related to how close you swim to it. Close
up, the Action is very powerful and both my son and daughter who are
extremely fit can only keep up to it for a minute or two. The Action
has two swivelling jets and swivelling them to the "down" position decreases
the effective strength of the current. The Action is powerful enough to transform a small pool into a swirling bubbling maelstrom. The
Active and Standard are thought to be a bit disappointing by many adults,
but arguably are more suited to a small pool. The Impulse and Swing
have a single swivelling jet which probably gives you more control over
effective strength. The
strength of the jets can be varied to some extent on all models by varying
the amount of air they suck into the jet stream.
The "Impulse" model is available in a number of pool catalogues as a means of turning an above ground pool into a swim-spa.
The underwater light is well worth the money, and makes night swimming fun.
